A lovely piece of history, stamped with the Military broad arrow and dated 1955.
In good overall condition, it shows age-related wear and marks, all adding to it's character.
The wooden handle isn’t flush with the top of the head, but it is solidly in place and ready for display or use.
The handle has been gently sanded and treated with linseed oil for preservation, while the axe head has been lightly cleaned to reveal its markings without losing its authentic patina.
