Vintage Herbert & Sons Ltd. Lion Quick Action Balance Scales.
This one appears to be a rare 10Lb type, cast iron finished in white porcelain enamel (most found are the 4Lb size).
The Lion Quick Action Scale was at the heart of the Company's scale range from about 1910 until 1945.
Although essentially a simple equal arm balance counter scale, it was a very well designed product, accurate, compact and with clean lines.
Displaying the large "Herbert & Sons Ltd" Lion Trademark badge on the front, in a good condition.
The iconic top mounted "Quick Lion Action" mascot bearing the Justice & Strength plaque is also in a great condition.
Brass plate on both front & rear - Front is stamped "Serial No. 10LB 1966" with the rear stamped "To Weigh 10LB".
The scales are in a good working order, with smooth moving parts.
Approximate height: 59cm.
You will find wear on the enamel around the moving parts, along with a few chips here and there.
This is expected from it's age, but overall the scales are in a stunning vintage condition.
